Driving to Missoula

10/22 - Wednesday We awoke and fairly quickly got ready to go. After we packed the car and had some eggs, we ran the doggies around for a few minutes, left the house key on the table, then locked up to go. It was only after we locked the house that we realized that Adam’s car, which we had parked in Will’s carport, was locked in behind a fence, and we were without a key! We’re still not sure if we did it late last night when we drove in, or it happened some other random way.

After a few minutes of gesticulation, we figured out how to back out the screws from the latch, and were able to free the car. This was important since Will was at work, Miriam was at school, and we were locked out of the house! We finally got on the road at 10:50 AM, driving out along the floating pontoon bridge of Hwy 90.

Driving over the cascade range was awesome, with some more fall color (vine maples, I expect).

The rest of the drive was fairly uneventful, except the guy who stuck his tongue out at us somewhere in eastern Washington state. The evergreen forests of the Cascade range gave way to the rolling foothills, then flat land of rabbitbrush, potatoes and alfalfa. Mile after mile after mile. Boy, this drive along I-90 is going to be exciting!
