10/27 Monday – After a bit of a slow start getting out of Missoula, we went shopping for dinner stuff for the next two nights, figuring it would be easier to shop while we knew where to go. It took us close to a hour, as we priced stuff, trying to stay on budget. But it all worked out. We also found some chocolate bars that Deidad had hidden in our stuff, which is just going to kill Tony, sitting in the car all day doing nothing but eating!

We did a major screw-up though on the drive, assuming it was about 7 hours to get to Gillette, when it fact it took us more like 9 hours. So we got into Gillette to couchsurf at about 8:30 PM. We felt bad because we were cooking dinner for our hosts. We were at least able to call ahead and warn them beforehand that we’d be late, and give them the option of eating at a reasonable hour. Our hostess with the most-ess Emmalee, was very gracious with out late arrival, and we set to work right away making dinner. Emmalee is a very funny and very pretty girl, who can hold her own in any conversation. She has a similar sense of humor to us, and we were laughing over stuff in no time. We slept well and comfortably that night, after a long day’s travel.

10/28 Tuesday – We woke up in Gillette, WY about 7:30, determined to not be late to our next destination like we were the previous night. We had a quick shower and breakfast, and Emmalee actually joined us, which was great. She said she is a night owl, so it must have been an extra special effort.
A quick stop at the Flying J on the way out of town, and we finally picked up a few postcards and some lipbalm. The dry air is finally getting to us. Eastern Wyoming is rolling hills covered in golden grassland, and thousands and thousands of pronghorn (antelope?) We passed by Devil’s Tower, which we would both love to see, but didn’t have time to make the trip.

Yes, Devil’s Tower is in the background there, on the right.
The weather has been most cooperative… it got up to almost 70 degrees, so we had our shirts off for a good portion of the drive.

It’s warm in here!
We were passed by a two young twinks in a Pontiac on the highway, who took a good look at us. Later when we stopped at a rest stop to make lunch, they pulled up, and asked if we had a fork to spare, and not in the most innocent way. Adam grabbed a plastic fork from the glove compartment and sent them on their way. Later we passed them again on the freeway a couple of times, and Adam had fun waving to them.
